Much like Boogie Nights there isn't much sex or nudity, but there is a lot of foul language and implied sexual content.
Anyway, this is something like a Judd Apatow, but with a little more wit. I like Seth Rogan but he really is best when he didn't write the material.
In the movie, you really start to feel for these hopeless losers. There ingenuity is something to be admired.

( 2.9 / 107 )Jenny and I went to go see the new Coen Bros' movie "Burn After Reading". It was great, odd, witty, and random.

I can't say much more because near the end (I think) the fire alarm went off in the theater and the whole place was evacuated.

We waited outside for a while then were finally told there was a real fire in one of the theaters and that they were not going to reopen that night. I guess we will just need to rent the movie when it comes out. (Our tickets were good for another movie of our choice at a later date).

( 2.5 / 69 )Tom Cruise has proven himself to be a raving lunatic time and time again. However, his AWESOME performance in Tropic Thunder has put him back in on my list. Anyone that can dance like that (and still does) is alright. I can't quite imagine the conversation during which he got offered this spot, but I'm glad it happened. He is great.

The rest of the movie is fine. I figured it would be "OK", but I was pleasently surprised. This was a very funny movie. It was definitely worth the $5 mid-week price at the theater and it may have even been worth full price (which is pretty rare for me to say).
If you only see one movie before the summer ends, go see The Dark Knight, but if you see two or just want to laugh, go see Tropic Thunder. Tom Cruise' best role since Risky Business.

( 2.8 / 116 )I've always planned a run for the White House at some point, but I guess 2008 is the year to start.

( 2.8 / 115 )It has been a long time since I paid full price for a movie and didn't feel like I was ripped off. (I'm much more forgiving when I use a movie pass or there is a week day special). However, yesterday I went to go see The Dark Knight and I definitely got my money's worth. I just wished I could have gotten a ticket for the IMAX showing.
The movie was awesome although it was a bit long but worth while. However, I could have done without the 22 minutes of previews. I know we are a captive audience but they don't need to take quite as much advantage of that fact. I don't understand why we need to see previews for movies still filming that won't be out until next year (Specifically, Terminator 4). There will be enough buzz next year, why do we need to see ads for it now (even if it has the same star).
On a related note, I just found out that Chris Nolan (who directed and wrote one of my favorite movies, Momento) was the writer and director of Batman. Now I'm on a quest to track down and watch Nolan's other movies.

( 3 / 116 )Apparently there is some new battery technology in my ThinkPad. While charging the battery a while ago I had this message come up to help me learn how to have my battery store 1000% of its original charge.

I'm guessing this is a glitch or maybe there is some new technology I haven't heard of. What do you think?

Recently there was a cheating scandal in the news dealing with the GMAT (the SATs for Business School). A writer at BusinessWeek got a hold of me to get my opinion as a current top tier business school student.
We talked about it for 10-15 minutes (IMHO, let the cheaters pay) which resulted in a few lines in the story . To clarify, while I understand the pressure to cheat I:
1) Don't condone it
2) Don't think it would help
3) Think think they should revoke the scores (and ban them from taking the test again) anyone who posted questions (and kick them out of school)
4) Think they should revoke the scores of anyone trolling the boards for live questions. (Although perhaps they should let them take the test again).
Luckily, my parents have always been supportive of whatever I wanted to do and were happy when I wanted to get a MSBA from San Diego State University. While this is very reputable program that some of my friends have gone through (and my undergrad alma mater), but not a top tier MBA program.
